The main reason for Civil War was slavery, states’ rights, and sectionalism. North and South fought in the civil war because they both had different ideologies and beliefs over human’s rights and liberty as well as local and regional interests were different. The institutions of slavery go beyond economic and political differences because South and North were so different in terms of ideologies-cultural, economic and political that they just couldn’t coexist together. The banning of Uncle Tom's cabin and other abolitionist books in developing a complex argument for pro-slavery that was advocated slavery as a positive public good it led to southern nationalism. Additionally, the dispute over free land that America and Mexico had a separated conflict, before conquering Texas and New Mexico and California was defeated as well.
