If you do one little thing that could mess up his business, it could affect the descendants after him. Holling’s dad finally has a chance to have his verge of happiness.
During group therapy Devante Fowler was addressed by Michael Rojas for sitting close to Michael Nash. Devante Fowler got upset and addressed Michael Rojas and Daniel about their drug seeking activities that’s transpires throughout the day. Michael and Daniel denied the situation but when other peers shared with staff that both students tried to convince them to take part, Michael Rojas then admitted to huffing and snorting with Daniel. Daniel also admitted to snorting and huffing. Michael Rojas confessed that him Daniel would work together to distract staff.
Based around the time period of the French and Indian war, White Devil is a historical narrative that graphically depicts, as the title says, war and savagery in colonial America. It bases mostly around Robert Rogers and his so called rangers. Rogers was a colonel that fought for the British crown during the French and Indian war. He developed one of the first Special Forces unit to be seen in the new world, Rogers’ rangers. The rangers were a light infantry whose role was to conduct unconventional special operations, such as raiding savage Indians.
Robin Roberts was born on November 23, 1960 in Tuskegee, Alabama. The youngest of four children, Robin remained physically active by engaging in many sports while growing up. She went on to play for her girls’ basketball team in college and earned her BA in Communication at Southeastern Louisiana University. Following advice from her sister Shelly-Ann, she combined her passion for basketball and journalism and started working as a sports reporter at various TV stations. In 1990 she became an anchor for ESPN’s Sportscenter where she contributed to some of the biggest headlines in sports during that time.

In Gary Gerstle’s historical monograph called American Crucible: Race and Nation in the Twentieth Century, he attempts to prove that the rooseveltian nation is a contradiction of civic and racial nations. A civic nation seeks to include anyone who shares the same value to the “promise of economic opportunity and political freedom to all citizens, irrespective of their racial, religious, or cultural background” (7). While civic nationalism seeks to include, racial nationalism seeks to exclude those who are not “held together by common blood and skin color and inherited fitness for self-government” (4). The Bridges at Toko-Ri The Bridges at Toko-Ri was a great novel, but it hit some rough spots along the way and it was hard for me to read this book at the beginning. The author, James. Michener, throws the reader into a random spot in the Korean War with no specific date or time. The novel was particularly good once I had gotten used to the author’s style choice of writing (detailed, but After reading this book, I have a better idea of how the men that lay down their lives every day feel when they are at war or are about to carry out an important mission. People overlook soldiers in the U.S. Military, seeing them as tough and intimidating men.
“The Crucible” by Arthur Miller and The Red Scare share many characteristics. “The Crucible” describes the Salem Witch Trials. These trials were during a period of time where men and women were very rancorous so others feared to speak up because they would be accused of witchcraft and killed. Similar to Arthur Miller’s book, the Red Scare was a period of time in the late 40’s and 50’s in which United States citizens were intensely paranoid of an opposing threat of communism in Eastern Europe and Asia and ultimately communists infiltrating the United States. What the Red Scare and “The Crucible” have in common is that accusations of witchcraft or communism were false, people were blind to the truth, and the accusers weren’t very tactful and
Richard the Lionheart is one of the most famous of kings, if not the most, in England and France. He was born on September 8, 1157 and died on April 6, 1199. He is mainly known for his part in the Third Crusade attempting to free Jerusalem from Muslim control. Although he had a large and important role in Medieval Europe, it is usually romanticized to increase the heroism of Richard. Richard’s prowess as a military leader, his benevolence and his sense of responsibility were all greatly exaggerated.
The Reivers The inspirational story that The Reivers describes is one that represents the progression of a young boy understanding the dark realities that life truly has to offer. These significant realities are based around racism, jealousy, corruption, betrayal, sexism, and theft that revolved around the 1900’s are the common difficulties that a person living in America would have to go through. Also, the story was one that proved to show great familiarity between the characters and understand the story’s true goal on symbolism. The story follows a young boy by the age of eleven whose name is Lucius Priest and his family’s retainer, Boon Hogganbeck.

Captain Walker has been murdered, the townspeople blaming a mulatto who was seen near the captain’s house on the previous night. “So when it became known in Troy early one Friday morning in summer, about ten years after the war, that old Captain Walker, who had served in Mexico under Scott and had left an arm on the field of Gettysburg, had been foully murdered during the night, there was intense excitement in the village.” “Business was practically suspended, and the citizens gathered in little groups to discuss the murder and speculate upon the identity of the murder”.
Similar to other dystopian novels such as George Orwell’s 1984, Ayn Rand’s Anthem paints a grim picture of a collectivist world fraught with terror and oppression. Yet Rand’s vision stands in stark contrast to those that shape most portrayals of dystopias that boast technological and scientific prowess. Technology in 1984 is sophisticated and used to enforce thought control over the masses. This chronology is reversed in Anthem, where prohibition of free thinking creates a medieval, technologically backward society. Inversely, independent thought and action set the conditions for scientific and technological development, ultimately revealing the nature of science.
The Breakaway was painted by Thomas William Roberts, an Australian artist known for his national narratives. This is demonstrated through, The Breakaway, as it tells the story of a drover trying to prevent a mob of sheep from running away from the pack. During the 1890’s there was a drought which is depicted in the painting, with dust being kicked up and dry, arid landscape. In 1891 a shearers strike began leading to the formation of the Australian Labor Party which suggests the lack of assistance that the drover is in need of. Tom Roberts was born on the 8th of March 1856 in Dorchester, England before moving to Australia at the age of 13.
The interactive oral covered multiple topics during its session that aided my understanding of the cultural and contextual elements of the work. This is beneficial since the pace of the play can cause these elements to be missed. Discussion and analysis of the audience, characters, and ideas in Tartuffe allowed more cultural and contextual elements to be understood. There was a lengthy discussion on the intended target audience since there was evidence for the upper and lower classes. As time passed, the consensus was that upper class culture would not appreciate the attack on them.
