The United Nations awarded him with the Environment Programme medal for this series. Additionally, he is the founder of the David Suzuki Foundation which is a non-profit organization with many different goals relating to environmental and economic issues, some of which they have already achieved. One issue the foundation is currently focusing on is climate change. In an article in regards to a projects called, Race to the Top, the author writes, “Climate change affects everyone. No matter where you live, how old you are, or what you do for work, climate change is affecting your life.”
David Suzuki David Suzuki was a very important environmentalist he was a scientist, television personality, author, and activist. One of the quotes David Suzuki said was “The environment is so fundamental to our continued existence that it must transcend politics and become a central value of all members of society.” What I think this quote means is that the environment is very important, and that we need to have it be a more important/serious topic. I think the quote means that the environmental issues should be taken more seriously or be more important than politics. David Suzuki was an important and influential figure in history that had a positive impact on the world, because he made David Suzuki foundation where you could and can still

We are like boiling frogs, Failing to act against climate change. As the severity of the situation continues to increase the world is reaching catastrophic levels. The recent article, “It's not too late to stave off the climate crisis, U.N. report finds” by Lauren Sommer, uses persuasive language to alert the public that the time to act on climate change is now. The world has enough technology and solutions to fix this problem as stated in the article whilst the author uses pathos to help support the quote.
In his essay “Why Bother?” Pollan echoes many of the ideas of perhaps the most famous of all environmental intellectuals, Wendell Berry. Berry advocated getting off “The Grid”, growing gardens and providing sustenance for one’s self. Berry’s motivation however to move back toward self reliance was motivated more by principles of localism, and traditional living than curbing and slowing global warming, however one can easily recognize similar ideas and concepts between these two men. Pollan asserts that by making small changes in ones day to day choices, perhaps that if multiplied by the millions of global consumers would make a positive difference in slowing or reversing global warming, Pollan however does not take in to account the many Factories, Plants, Airlines that contribute ten fold more to Co2 emissions that cause global warming in the first place, or the fact that contributions to political action and legal groups, contrary to Pollan’s assertions, are very important in affecting change, and finally while planting your own food is great, perhaps it’s too passive
The Temperatures are rising, carbon emissions are increasing, ice caps are melting at a faster rate than most scientists expected, and planet earth is experiencing ecological and environmental issues due to global warming. Earth as we know it might change drastically in the next couple of decades, and it is our responsibility to preserve the environment and preserve earth. Michael Pollan's Why Bother? opens the reader's eyes in a powerful way to global warming and related environmental crises. Pollan uses rhetorical strategies such as current and past events, logos and pathos to persuade the reader "to bother"(218) and start thinking of the environment as an issue that involves all the people. Pollan approaches the reader from different standing
A harsh cold reality on climate change is exposed to an unbelieving world in Mike Pearl’s “Phoenix will be almost unlivable by 2050, thanks to climate change” article. Mike pearl is a journalist for Vice Magazine in 2017, a rocky year after the election of presidential candidate Donald J. Trump, in a less than stable political climate. As well as a less than stable living climate. According to Mike Pearl, temperatures in Phoenix, Arizona, may be unlivable by 2050 due to climate change. His article is more than effective, as it’s extremely terrifying as he stresses the importance of what this will mean with pathos, logos and ethos.
Therefore, Den Haag’s response to climate change cannot solely rely on the nation state. Echoing Barber, since ‘antiquated nation-states, wrapped up in their sovereignty and independence and incapable of meeting the new perils’ , it’s up to local government to ensure the sustainability of its city. Leaving Den Haag to directly confront and address the future sustainability of the growing city.
There were also some misconceptions to the issue of global warming. In response to this, he presented the fact that there is really a global warming. According to the author “Scientists overwhelmingly agree that the Earth is getting warmer, that this trend is caused by people, and that if we continue to pump greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, the warming will be increasingly harmful.” The reason why the author really believes that global warming is very hazardous to the people health.
Annotated Bibliography: How Climate Change Is Affecting Our Planet Controversy statement: Climate change is been debated for over centuries now. People all around the world are taking action and reducing burning fossils to minimize the gasses in the atmosphere. Many people believe that climate change doesn't exists. But there are a lot of controversial topics that proves that climate change is real. In my opinion, climate change is slowly killing us and destroying our planet.
B) “Because, in the past, wealthy industrialized countries (like the U.S.) have taken unfair advantage of less developed countries in using the atmosphere as a carbon sink, the people now living in these wealthier countries should bear more of the cost in dealing with climate change problems than the less developed countries (e.g., India).” (i) There is an argument against this that claims that the people of the past were unaware of the science of climate change, and since they acted unintentionally, and in law people have to act intentionally in order to be held responsible, these people and their descendants are not responsible for their actions. Firstly, Garvey makes a counterargument to this by pointing out that the warming effect of greenhouses
They also point out that global warming consensus is not based on science, but for the political purpose. From my perspective, the severity of climate change indeed can affect the decisions of policy-makers, such as green policy and governance. But it does not mean that people can just ignore the consequences of the enormous emission of greenhouse gases in the past few decades. First of all, countries in Latin America and Africa tend to concern more about climate change issue than other regions. I have noticed that the majority of climate change skeptics mentioned in the documentary were from U.S..
“The only thing that we can do is control what we do next. How we live our lives. What we consume. How we get involved. And how we use our vote to to tell our leaders that we know the truth about climate change”, says Leonardo Dicaprio.
Recent climate change has never been a topic without global controversy. With the enormous impact stirred up, from economic loss to environmental disturbance. The ballooning attention to the issue has also triggered fierce discussion of the effectiveness of individual effort in the remedy of the gradually deteriorating environment. In the light of over-exploit natural resources by developers, there are a lot of people accusing the big businesses as the culprit and the biggest liability bearer.
Climate Change is one of the most unsettling problems mankind faces today. It leaves an impact on every single living thing, on every continent, no matter the privilege. Long term investment must be used to change the world. People must do more than just change out their light bulbs for eco-friendly ones, or drive fuel efficient cars. A choice as simple as changing our diets could reduce a human’s carbon footprint by fifty percent.
