In the book Diversity in America by Vincent Parillo, the notion of multiculturalism of being a threat to society in the United States is challenged. In order to define the differing viewpoints of what multiculturalism is advocating, Parillo identifies the “three umbrellas of multiculturalism” and explains how each mindset approaches the topic. The Inclusionists promote school curriculums to include non-white accomplishments so that minorities can feel that their background also had great significance in contributing to success of the United States. The Separatists believe that different ethnicities should not conform to assimilating to the mainstream culture.

A little over two years ago, I started working as a Community Support Individual for Pathways Transition Programs LLC. My primary responsibility is to teach children various coping skills to manage their behavior, I have determined that I want to be able to address the emotions behind the behaviors. My desire is to be able to help the children I work with come to terms with their past histories so they can move on in their lives towards adoption and other positive outcomes. Sometimes, the children are still going through issues such as, on-going traumas, the lost of a parent due to death or incarceration, etc and I would like to develop the skill set to be able to address these issues. I see pursuing my degree through Argosy University as being the next step to take in order to develop a competency in counseling.
In addition to my community work I have been a longtime member of my church’s youth group and services. Since my early years, I have strived to utilize my knowledge, leadership skills and compassion to help others, to motivate young girls and boys into believing that with the right state of mind and hard work they can become what they dream in life. I would like to bring my skills, talents, dedication and commitment to your organization. I would like further to have the opportunity to grow and learn from as well as demonstrate the ability to serve in harmony alongside other capable leaders and role model in this great

My educational goal to pursue a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Trauma and Crisis Counseling is a result of my personal life experiences and my admiration for those who work in this field, dedicated to helping those who may feel dragged down by toxic cycles and heavy memories, like myself once did, to create a life filled with meaning. As a Sociology major in my undergraduate career, I’ve always been interested in other people and why they operate the way that they do. It wasn’t long after earning my bachelors that I came to the belief that my past experiences and mental health journey could become my superpower to help others, and that if I wish for society to collectively feel better, then the focus on

My long term goals are to acquire my Doctorate of Nursing Practice after completing the Master of Science in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner concentration program. I would use my advance practice license in a clinical setting and later give back and share my knowledge and expertise in an educator role. I enjoy educating others greatly; one of the most gratifying components of nursing. Meeting my short term and long term professional and academic goals would be highly rewarding. Knowing I was able to conquer a rigorous nursing program like Maryville University and now having the tools to play a vital role in helping others achieve optimal health would provide

My reason for perusing graduate studies in this field is the growing passion I have for counseling. Growing up with a mentally ill mother wasn’t easy and caused me to harbor a lot of emotions, which I carried with me throughout my adult life. It was through counseling that I learned how to express with my feelings instead of suppressing them. Counseling has helped me become emotionally healthy. Majority of people I encounter are ignorant to the importance
