Cloud Computing has been known to be a disruptive technology due to the fact that it brings existing technologies in a new and more efficient way. As with all technologies, the code of ethics applies to cloud computing as well. As cloud computing integrates third party service providers it is important for them to look at the code of ethics to make a determination of new challengers or ethical issues arise.
The most recognized ethical rule in information technology in relevance to cloud computing is to respect the privacy of system users. Engineers and IT administrators often have access to the data from its users. It is very important for the administrators to have this access to be able to manage the system and troubleshoot any issues. The other widely known ethical rule with cloud computing is to protect customer data. Customers pay for the use of a cloud computing space, and they entrust the provider of the clod services to protect their data from any type of theft or misuse. When data breaches do occur, the cloud computing provider has a responsibility to fix the issue and restore the data.
