Liar Soldier Temptress Spy, is a non-fiction book, written by Karen Abbott. It takes place before and during the Civil War. The Civil War began in 1861 and ended in 1865. This book mainly focuses on the important roles that women played in the Civil War. Especially focusing on four lovely, intelligent, and sneaky women named Belle Boyde, Emma Edmmondson, Rose O'Neal Greenhow, and Elizabeth Van Lew.
The memoir, Handbook for an Unpredictable Life by Rosie Perez, talks about how Lydia robbed a store. Lydia abuses her gun rights and she just using the pistol for fun. Lydia steal for fun and Rosie knew stealing was wrong. Rosie found out about her mother’s illness schizophrenia because Lydia always speak out her mind. Lydia is a open book.

Diane Ackerman’s purpose for writing her essay “ Loves Vocabulary” is to inform us that love is inexplicable for the reason that there are many emotions to it and many emotions that fit into one single word. The connotations of the words such as “monotone” and “tangle” suggest her authoritative tone about how love can be make you feel many emotions at a time although we can not define the word love. Furthermore, there are so many feelings that occur, but we are not able to concentrate on one feeling. All over the world kids are in orphanages, patiently waiting months or years to find a family, and adults wanting to adopt a child needing a family. In the fictional book A Tangle of Knots by Lisa Graff, Cady, after living in an orphanage her whole life wants to be adopted and have a family. She has seen girls come and go in the orphanage. In just a few days girls are paired with families and are happy. Cady was the only girl in Miss Mallory’s orphanage that stayed for an extended amount of time, which bothered Cady.

Zora Neale Hurtson’s character, Delia Jones, demonstrates how women can transition from being inferior to becoming superior in a domestic relationship. The story opened with Delia washing clothes for white people on Sunday, and Sykes verbally abused her for dishonoring God because she was washing clothes that belong to white people on the Sabbath day.

I just finished another one of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series called The Third Wheel by: Jeff Kinney. I am really enjoying this book because the author kept me interested and I could never put the book down. This is the second time I have read this book and I liked it just as much as I read it the second time. Since the book is a journal about a made up character most of the book is written in a third person… limited omniscient.
Naked Truth This book is about courage and it tackles a very sensitive topic, namely, abuse. Written by one of my favorite authors, Colleen Hoover, who has inspired me through her books. "It Ends With Us" is more than just a book to read at one's leisure, it is a life lesson. I really felt bad for Lily, the main character of the book, because she had to witness how abusive her father was to her own mother at a very young age.
