Choosing a career path can be challenging for some individuals, but this is not always the case for others. As for me, it has always been clear the career field of my choice since I was very young.

While I was growing up, I always knew that I was inclined in becoming a physician. One of my past times as a child was to pretend that I was a doctor. For instance, I used to operate on my toy soldiers and plush animals. Another reason that inspired me to choose this field of study is the fact that I come from a long line of physicians and how much I learned to value their skills for saving lives. In the journey to becoming a physician, it is not only important to succeed academically and professionally, but changing the quality of lives for others, treating others with respect, and understanding their needs in an empathic manner are also essential.

It is through a culture that we develop our values, beliefs, and customs. As for me, I am very proud of my Hispanic background and of sharing all the values that were instilled by my family for generations. However, I also have learned to introject and love many of the customs of this country because I am part of it. Respecting and understanding other cultural beliefs is very important because, in the United States, there is an increasing number in cultural diversity each year. I believe that we all should learn to coexist with one another, and we should embrace each other's differences in order to make this a better place. In sum, we must practice the Humanistic perspective by looking at the goodness of human behavior and demonstrating empathy for others. In the same manner, the Cross-cultural approach gives an insightful contribution to this topic in that we should learn to communicate and interact more effectively with people of different
