Growing up I was always told to follow my dreams, no matter how big or how small, and attending the University of Louisville has been my dream since eighth grade when I attended my very first college basketball game. At the Yum Center I could feel the pride of the students and community all joined together to support such an amazing program, and it was that moment when the student section was chanting “we are cardinals,” that I knew that was where I wanted to be. Throughout the years I have went to other college basketball games at Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky, but those games did not have the same love I felt at Louisville five years ago. Receiving the Cardinal Covenant would put these dreams into reach. I do not come from a wealthy family, therefore attending college is something we earn. Throughout the years, I have strove to be the very best in everything I do in and out of school. I have managed to maintain a perfect four point zero grade point average, while taking rigorous honors and advanced placement classes. Along with these I have participated in three sports and kept a job. I have the work ethic and drive necessary to excel at the University of Louisville, however, the cost of attendance may not allow me to prove that. …show more content…
We would move houses at least once a year, and sometimes we would not have very much to eat. Throughout all this, my mother always provided for my sister and I. Earning a degree would allow me to better myself and my future. I would be able to have a steady job, that would pay well enough to repay my mother for everything she did for my family throughout the years, and give my future children a better life than what I had. This scholarship would not only allow me to attend my dream college and put it would allow me to get a degree in biology that would be a stepping stone towards living my dream of being a veterinarian and opening my own animal
