It was John Wooden, the famous basketball coach, who said: “Do not let what you can not do interfere with what you can do.” Whether it is in sports, academics, or in my personal life, I am committed to achieve my highest potential. Luther North College Prep has a “legacy of academic excellence, spiritual growth, and athletic and fine arts achievements”, and I want to be part of this. I am a good candidate for the Len-Rich Athletic Foundation Scholarship because am a hard worker, disciplined student and athlete, as well as a servant of the Lord. I started attending St. John’s Lutheran Elementary School in 5th grade, and at that time, I joined the basketball team. I did not let the fact that I’d never played basketball to stop me from joining the team. Back then our coach would always tell us to work hard and do our very best. Now that I am a 8th grader and a starter on the varsity basketball team, I have especially applied this. At the age of nine, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac Disease, both of which have been painful trials. Nevertheless, I have learned discipline, responsibility and increased faith. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Joshua 1:9. My God has been with me and provided strength and courage, knowing this helps me to overcome my struggles and depend on Him daily. My friends have been an important part of my life, especially through this time.
God has blessed me with amazing friends. I am a loyal, encouraging and trustworthy person, who nurtures these qualities in my current relationships, and I am confident that I will continue to do so in the future. I look forward to the opportunity to develop new friendships as I enter high school as well as expanding on my service
