Big Sun Athletic Scholarship “Push yourself because no one else is going to do it for you.” I disagree with this quote because I have learned that in life we can all push each other if we work together. Athletics have always been a major role in my life. Many people in my family are huge into sports, so from day one I was always expected to be an athlete. I was put into a wide range of different sports, and I’m glad, because they all made me stronger and more mature. I would never change how I was raised and how my parents always had sports in the life I live. It taught me how to be a great leader, teammate, and how to set goals, and work hard for them. My parents wanted me in as many sports as I could when I was younger. My family has been such an influence on me in many ways but, especially with my sports. They were always big on being a leader and making the best decisions for everyone. You see some kids who aren’t very good at looking out for the whole team and they mostly look out for themselves, or you see kids who aren’t leaders. My family taught me to be both. I was voted team player of the year for my basketball team during my freshmen year but, I was also team captain of my soccer team during my junior and senior year. I was taught to make everyone feel part of a team and to make that team feel like a family. I was also taught that someone needs to take control and make decisions that are best for the team, and not just myself. I think that sports will help how I am with my own family in the future. The same way that my family now affects the actions I took during my sports and in my education. I have experienced being a leader of a team and I will be a dad some day and when that time comes I am going to use all those characteristics that sports and my family have granted me and I will treat my kids and my wife the same
