Why Is Georgia Tech Football Important To Me

I’ve been involved in sports for as long as I can remember. Growing up an avid Georgia Tech football fan, I started going to their games just weeks old. Georgia Tech football is a big part of the Keeney household during football season. I started playing soccer at a local church when I was three and was enchanted with the sport from there on out. My parents wisely had me signed up for nearly every sport out there as soon as I could play them, so I could find what I do and don’t like. I’ve had challenges and adversity during my times as an athlete, like tearing an ACL, but in the end something about athletics just continues to pull me back into it. I love the games, I love the spirit of the sports, I love the togetherness that athletics bring forth. Sports really unfolded for me on a personal stage in my high school years. I’ve played at least one sport each year in my time in high school. My freshman year I played soccer both semesters, one with a travel team and the other with my school team. My teammates gravitate towards me and listen to what I have to say. I’ve wanted to be an anesthesiologist, a doctor who works with lots of other doctors, nurses, and assistants. My leadership skills shown to me through athletics will only help me in the operating room, giving orders, advising, and supporting the staff around me to make the workplace productive and positive for those who are around me. In addition to my career plans, athletics have affected my relationship with my family. Being a Georgia boy with Tennessee roots, football runs in our blood. Everytime I see my family, we talk sports, we talk about our football teams and what is going on with me athletically. It’s a bonding opportunity for my family and I, and it lets us show off our competitive spirits and have a great time
