It was August 31, 2000 two days before I start grade one my summer that year consisted of me going to daycare and doing a lot of activities. However, August 31 stands out in my mind because that was the day my life change. Everyone was at the house that evening and my brother just came back from playing pickup basketball in another neighborhood. He came up to me and told me to follow him we went to court at a nearby church and he put the ball in my hand I shot it for the first time and that is what began my endless love affair with basketball. From that day all my recesses where spent at the basketball hoop. Through sport I found that I was naturally an extrovert which made it very easy for me to make friends , despite our differences. basketball, expanded my interaction with other people and caused lifelong bonds in a leisure setting. Even though I love basketball, my sports participation was well rounded. I participated in soccer competitively, various other sports and activities. The use of sports and politics has had both positive and negative impacts during the course of history. It weighs from bringing countries together (Olympics) to fixing outcomes for the betterment of the governing body (Roy Jones Jr. loses a split-decision to Park Si- Hun in the 1988 Olympics). The tight relationship between sport and states is in place because of the impacts the results can have on society. These impacts are along the lines of Hitler's emphasis of German dominance in the 1936 Berlin Olympics to The Springbok 1995 world cup team bringing a segregated South Africa together.
