Most parents put their daughters in cheerleading because of the uniform and they think it will be a “cute” memory; however, that was not the case for me. I instantly fell in love with the sport, and at six it became my goal to make the varsity team my first year of high school. After telling my mom the goal I had set for myself, she enrolled in tumbling classes and signed me up for rec league cheer every season to help me learn the skills I would need when I tried out. I had waited months to try out for the high school cheer program since the original date had been postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Cheerleading is a sport that is mentally draining. You are constantly pushing yourself to be better. Each season starts in March with tryouts and goes until mid-February when the season ends with a national competition. By the end of my junior season, I did not want to cheer on my senior year. However, I decided since it would be my senior season to try out one last time and finish out the sport that I have always loved. Cheer has made me stronger physically and mentally. This intense sport has taught me countless life lessons including favorites will always exist, who you know will play a role in how you are treated, you will always have to work harder no matter what, and finally you do not have to be just like everyone else. While my thirteenth and final season has drawn to a close, I am truly thankful for cheerleading and would not change anything about the experience I have had. Without cheerleading, I would be a completely different person than who I am today. This scholarship would be extremely beneficial to my future endeavors considering I have taken the ACT a total of nine times to try to achieve a score that would allow me to be accepted into a university of my
