Little did I know then that the teachers are always looking for three things; technique, confidence, and artistry. The audition was for Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory. The class was being held at the Alvin Ailey School in New York City. Being my paranoid self, I was there two hours early.
In the novel, The Bean Trees, by Barbara Kingsolver, symbolic actions taken by the characters illustrates how anyone could be a person’s family through emotional support through hardships and life even if they are not related. Taylor ends up with Turtle and they form a family together, and when they move in with Lou Ann and her son, their family grows even bigger and stronger together. Even though Taylor and Lou Ann are no where near related, they still think of each other as family. Lou Ann talks about how Taylor and Turtle is her family and said, “I meant you all. Mainly I guess because we’ve been through hell and high water together” (309).

To be the best dancer possible, I had to practice even outside of class time during my spare time. It was my responsibility to make sure that my makeup, my hair and my costume looked exactly like the rest of the team. Working as a team meant that everyone’s dance move had to happen at the same time, and no one should mess up. I had to learn to get along with my team and obey what the coaches said. Dancing was my passion and it never tired me out, in fact I found the whole process
For those willing to befriend effort and hard work, great treasures are in store, but only those very few who push towards success will earn them. As a ballet dancer at age nine, I knew not of the hard work which lay ahead, for my heart was set on my treasure. After watching a company class early that Saturday morning, watching the luminous dancers show off their lines and glide across the floor on their toes, I knew what my mind desired. I wanted to be just like them; I craved the ability to dance en pointe. Being en pointe takes many months of preparation, blisters, calluses, and sweat, but nothing was going to pull me away from my treasure.
Is Dance a Sport or an Art? Some people think dance is not a sport. They think it’s an art because it is nothing but remembering dance moves. However, I believe dance is a sport.
This work-study grant is an amazing opportunity for me to grow as a dancer and as a student. It would require me to apply skills I use in other areas of my life to what I am passionate about. Through this grant, discipline, drive, and professionalism would become even more connected to dance. This will also carry through to my school work, and all other aspects of my life. Learning about what goes on in the Ballet besides the dancing will help me to better understand and appreciate what's makes an organization work effectively.
I am delighted to have the honor of instructing Developmental Movement and Pre-Ballet classes to children ages 2-5. In order to establish a successful dance studio, I am required to develop the abilities necessary to administer a Business, and to teach dance.
Is Dance A Sport? How much longer will the controversy of dance continue? Some people agree that it is a sport and others disagree. Most people who disagree about dance being a sport do not know enough about it.
Since birth, I’ve been ridiculously shy, insecure, and unable to step out of my comfort zone. Ironically enough, I’ve also been a dancer since the age of four. In any kind of dance, you have to be confident and willing to put yourself out there, and I just couldn’t, but for some reason I stuck with it. It was the hardest thing I’ve done, and I felt very out of place on stage.
Reflecting on my educational and practical experiences, I appreciate the infinite influence that teachers have on children. I realise that children will take the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom and use it throughout their lives. I know a teacher has to deal with many daily pressures and challenges, in the classroom. However, I feel I require the skills needed to deal with these challenges. As a teacher I hope not only to be an educator but a positive role model, whom the children can look up to and trust.
I have always had a burning passion for dance since I was a young girl. My first time on a stage, I was immediately hooked. The overpowering feeling of a crowd of people watching me as I do what I love, is a feeling I have always admired. Dance has developed my character and personality in many different ways. I have been taught responsibility, discipline, integrity and much more.
Ever since i was young i fell in love with the art of dance. When i finally joined i felt like i was a little behind hence everyone was in my class was dancing since they were toddlers. My first day of dance was pretty nerve racking. My teacher would say to do something and i wouldn't know what to do because i didn't know any dance vocabulary. I would have to look around and try to fit in as much as possible so my teacher wouldn't think i wasn't fit for the class.
