At this point in my life I have no idea if I am on the right path or not. I’ve made more mistakes than I wish to admit, and more regrets than I’d ever imagine to have on my mind. Yet as of this year, I decided to make the best of each and every day I live so that I no longer live in the past. I hope to be passionate about my major and all that life has planned for me. Making the decision to attend Miami has become a decision that I have not once regretted. This happened after I took the Spanish online placement test out of boredom and my advisor, seeing my score, requested that I take Spanish to the language requirement. Although I was a little confused due to the fact that I had already declared two language minors, I still took Spanish. I had never planned on taking Spanish classes because I had thought of myself as a fluent bilingual speaker never realizing that I was never fully fluent. My ability to speak and read Spanish at home did not directly translate to my ability to write in Spanish. I also did not have the actual skills to hold an in depth conversation in the professional world. My own thoughts, self-doubts, and defeats have become the obstacles in my path. Of course one has to find the courage to step out of their comfort zone to become a new person but I haven’t been able to reach that point. However, I am trying every second that I am awake to overcome my past mistakes and redeem myself. There may be incredible challenges in my path, but I will not allow myself to quit before I have even begun the race. I wish to be a person of sound mind and, to have tried to best of my abilities in school. This goal in one I hope to achieve both academically and personally. To be of sound mind will guide me towards a better understanding in my studies. Propelling to become a better student in all aspects, from my lack of motivation in some instances to the want to work hard. I want to better myself inside and outside of the classroom, no matter what subject the instructor or professor is teaching. These are all important factors and skills I will need for my future
