The cat represents her presence and the color red stands for the good health of Mattie and the sleigh ride represents the time Mattie tells Ethan she needs him. The lesson in this novel to me is to never take the small things for granted. Red is the color of blood, ruddiness, good health, and vitality, all of which Mattie has in abundance, which Zeena lacks. Red is also the color of transgression and sin, the trademark color of the devil. At the dance, Mattie wears a red scarf and for the evening, she wears a red ribbon in her hair.
She always believed she white until she saw a photograph of herself. I was shocked because how could she not know that she was black, her parents are black, But she was a little girl she couldn’t. For my book review I chose to read “The Girl in the Red Coat,” a memoir written by Holocaust survivor Roma Ligocka along with some help from Iris Von Finickenstein. This book was originally written in German and published in Germany in 2000 by Verlagsgruppe Droemer Weltbild Gmgh & Co KG. It was then translated to English and re-published by Bantam Dell A division of Random House. Inc. New York, New York in 2002.

Answers Part A (7)The girl with the red coat - The girl wearing the red coat is a young Jewish girl. The red coat is the only coloured object in this black and white film. Schindler sees her from over a hill while the Jews are being gathered up in the Ghettos. To Schindler, she represents the innocence of the Jews being slaughtered. This is the monument when Schneider realized that innocent Jews are being killed by the Nazis and he is a part of it.
Survivors of the Holocaust After the war against the Nazis, there were very few survivors left. For the survivors returning to life to when it was before the war was basically impossible. They tried returning home but that was dangerous also, after the war, anti-Jewish riots broke out in a lot of polish cites. Although the survivors were able to build new homes in their adopted countries. The Jewish communities had no longer existed in much part of Europe anymore.
In my opinion, in the novel, the red sweater symbolizes hatred, anger, cruelty, rage, or even a person who you will fear to approach just by looking at him because in the novel he is characterized as being an evil person who hates dogs and beats them like in this quote when it says: “He was beaten; but he was not broken. He saw once for all, that he stood no chance against a man with a club. He learned the
Holocaust signifies“sacrifice by fire”. The Germans thought that they were “superior” to all other races. They claimed that they had encountered a “final solution” to the “problem” of racial disparity. Germans targeted other groups because of their perceived "racial inferiority". They targeted Gypsies, disabled, Poles and Russians.
The Holocaust In 1993, there were more than 10 million Jews in Europe, but by 1945, 6 million had been murdered. out of the 6 million, over 1.1 million children died during the Holocaust. Approximately 13 million Jews live throughout the world today. What happened during the Holocaust was the Nazi Party killed a mass amount of Jews driven by the desire to create “a pure race” of people.
Like many genocides the Holocaust was one of the worst recorded in history. The Holocaust happened during World War II when Hitler became the leader of Germany in 1933. The War was mostly present in Europe, East Asia or the Pacific Islands but the Holocaust, which was a genocide of Jews, took place in Europe. Nazi’s and SS officers would storm the houses of Jews and move them into ghettos eventually ending up in a concentration camp. Some would die on their way there but mostly all the deaths occured in the camps.
The Holocaust was a horrific tragedy which started in January of 1933 and ended in May of 1945, the Holocaust was the mass murder of millions of people. The word was derived from the Greek word that meant Sacrifice to the Gods (Steele 7), also called the Shoan which is the Hebrew word for catastrophe (Steele 7). So many countries took place in this 12-year genocide, including, “Germany, Italy, Japan, Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria, which were also known as the Axis Powers” (Steele 34). But, although there were all those countries they were all part of one larger group called the Nazis, were the ones who were killing all the different denominations of people. (Bachrach 58).

This is connected very well to her personality. Mother Gothel is very hateful and evil towards Rapunzel. In one of the songs Mother Gothel sings, in the movie, she sings “The world is dark, and selfish, and cruel.”
