Did you know that chromatography can separate the different colors in sodas and other colored drinks? The purpose of this experiment is to separate the colors in soda by using column chromatography. There are many different types of chromatography and you can do them using different pieces of equipment and they separate different things besides liquids.
There are many different types of chromatography. Some types of chromatography are gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, planar chromatography, but the type of chromatography we are studying is column chromatography. “Column chromatography in chemistry is a chromatography method used to purify individual chemical compounds from mixtures of compounds.” Chromatography is when the chemical is purified using another compound. Column chromatography is when different liquids are separated from each other. All the different types of chromatography separate chemicals from each other but they do it in different ways.

The different types of chromatography end up giving the same result. Even though this is true, you use the different types for different substances. While doing chromatography you use different pieces of equipment, a gas manometer and a balance can be used for column chromatography while a tube and something absorbent is used for liquid chromatography. There are different types of chromatography that can be used to test in different ways. Liquid chromatography uses a tube, sometimes a graduated cylinder, and a something that is absorbent. Gas chromatography used absorbent materials and things that you can easily be made into a gas. Most of the time people make substances into gases by heating them. Thin layer chromatography uses an absorbent film. The liquid will move up the film and separate the substances will
