A coming-of-age novel with a twist would be the best description for the book "To Kill a Mockingbird", as a result of the plot taking place in a girl's childhood life in a Southern town. To this day this book is extremely successful popular, even after 53 years! I would recommend this book to my new English teacher since the book was written in a smooth and flowing manner, has achieved many awards and maintains popularity, and the messages portrayed in the book are very mind opening. The book is about Jean Louise Finch’s (the narrator), more commonly known as Scout, life in a neighborhood in Alabama during the Great Depression in the 1920s-1930s. For example, gay marriage has been legalized in all 50 states and people immediately tried to justify their awful behavior to guarantee their spot in another world that they don’t
