Go ask allice is one of the most banned book in schools and I completely dis agree, I think this book should be shown to kids to teach them that life isn’t all sun shine and rainbows. It shows how you would have to life on your own and how hard it is to survive when you don’t have an education and how bad drugs can mess with a person’s mind and physical stat.
Alice’s life changes so much throughout the book at the start of the book she was this innocent girl that had a depressed stat but wasn’t having that bad of a life but she found out she was going to be moving that ended up scaring her, she gets a new friend that brings her to a party they are all playing this game little did she know it was an acid game and she gets so high and has her first trip. “I 've never made such a big mistake. It was reckless and irresponsible,” she said of her decision to use drugs, also telling Williams, “I respect you and your work. I 'm so sorry. Thank you.”
She told Rinfret she had been addicted to heroin, which she procured from Akron, for more than eight years. He criticized her for failing to seek treatment for her addiction and notes she “got a heck of a break” by facing only a fifth-degree felony. “I have a right to send you to prison and I'm going to send you to prison. I don't recall ever not sending someone to prison for selling heroin.
Although this book talks a lot about sexual topics and has language that is not for the younger aged readers, it should not be banned from high school. Maybe in seventh or sixth grade but I think from eighth grade through high school this book should be allowed in libraries. The topics they talk about are a little on the edge but it’s things that students are going to learn about.
Despite it has not been fully proven, many readers believe that Go Ask Alice was written by an American Therapist and Mormon youth counselor Beatriz Ruby Mathews Sparks. The book has been banned and or challenged on multiple occasions for its constant drug use reference, teen pregnancy, prostitution, sexual activity, and rape (Sparks). According to Wikipedia.com, Sparks was born January 15, 1917 in Goldberg Idaho, but later moved and was raised in Logan, Utah. She began working with teens in 1955 after she attended the University of California Los Angeles and Brigham Young University (Biography).
Ellen Hopkins’ Crank is an epic poem geared toward warning young people of the various consequences of using dangerous drugs. However important its message, it provides a single story, a stereotypical tale influenced by pop culture about addiction and the people it affects. In the poem, the heroine, Kristina Snow, gets addicted to methamphetamines, otherwise known as “crank”. Her life takes a downward turn that includes pregnancy and dropping out of school. The poem depicts just one experience with drug abuse and links it to what is perceived to be the most likely thing to happen if you get addicted to drugs, providing a false single story for the young people it targets.
After this Alice tries to run away from the plantation
Near the beginning of the novel, all of the adults disappear while the children are at school. No one knows what's happening, everyone decides to leave the school and find their parents. All of the little children are screaming and crying. Next, Luna is a main character within the book and all she has is her dog Patrick and she doesn’t believe that she can live without him, but a crazy mishap happens to her. Lastly, Sam and Caine hated each other through the entire novel and near the end Sam has to opportunity to kill him.
Even though some of today's books are written in blood they are too dark for kids at a young age. Juveniles should not be taught these horrendous things that our literary world teaches them. Megan Cox Gurdon writes, “Go ask Alice,” this novel recounts a girl’s spiral into drug addiction, prostitution, rape, and fatal overdose”. Youth should not be exposed to tragedies like these. What happens if a little girl reads this for school or another activity, and thinks that it is alright to experience these things or pressure someone into doing a harmful thing.
This book tells the story of a young girl and her troubled life. It may be a bit dramatic, but that is how the world is today. It has been banned because of bad language, inappropriate actions, and violence, but sadly that is what happens today as well in some places. School administrators shouldn’t be allowed to ban this book when things in it actually happen in the world. If someone isn’t ok with the book then they don’t have to read it.
Then eventually she was left to crawl away. She reported the event to the local Police, who laconically informed her about a similar case where a young girl was murdered in the exact same location where Alice was assaulted. Being strong, she decides to go back to school starting her sophomore year, she continued with the literature program give in school as a therapeutic way to facilitate her chance of
This book was very graphic and went into detail about Kristina being raped. It was difficult to read this portion of the book and some teens may feel uncomfortable with it. In the Article Banned Books #9 Crank by Ellen Hopkins, Beth says “I could understand the reasons for it being challenged when published in 2001. I admit that I am vehemently anti-drugs and although I agree wholeheartedly that there should be more education about what is out there, at points it felt like the more pleasurable parts of taking drugs was focused on” (Reads.)
"Brave new world" why should kids in school read this book because it encourages them to reunite with society and it can inform them about important things to them like the usage of drugs can have a bad impact on them and how they view things around them. Soma is a drug that the government gives to people to don't feel stressed and make them feel good instead of the brave new world and it's not fair for
This is proof that just because the book shows consequences does not mean that she obeyed by them. This is a concern because it could teach young readers that it's adequate to turn back to drugs even though you are on probation. Also, she is talking about a new drug she has not tried yet and that is not a good mind frame for an eleven-year-old. It is setting our future up for failure by teaching young kids that the information
She is addicted to sleeping meds and is brainwashed by society. ‘“What? Did we have a wild party or something? Feel like I’ve a hangover. Who was here?”’
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland can be described as a work of fantasy and literary nonsense. The story follows seven-year-old Alice, as she falls down a rabbit hole and enters a strange and absurd world
