On the day January 30, 1882, a young boy was born who would live on to become the 32nd president of the United States. Franklin D. Roosevelt has had numerous actions in his life, the most important were his World War II accomplishments, his actions while he was president, and his help in the great depression. Franklin Roosevelt was elected as president in 1932. His most illustrious competitor was Herbert Hoover, the 31st president. Hoover left his presidency and his country in an economic slump also known as the Great Depression.
The Communist Manifesto was originally published in 1848 as a reaction to the changing times of the Industrial Revolution. Written by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, both of whom were German theorist, the Manifesto sought to clearly lay out the positions and goals of the Communist League. The short tract was translated into many languages to unite the many socialist movements of Europe. The composition has since become the defining work of Marx and Engels. Drastic changes in innovation and urbanization during the Industrial Revolution led Karl Marx and Frederick Engels to call for a radical reaction by the proletariat.
One could argue that the people of the western United States would never consider the arguments made in The Communist Manifesto due to their patriotism and their ignorance of the national economical issues. This assumption is false, however, because some of the farmers had already thought similar ideas to what is in The Communist Manifesto, and the document would only organize and put their own thoughts into words. One example of this would be Tom Joad’s idea to have “them people [get] together and says, ‘let ‘em rot.’ Wouldn’ be long ‘fore the price went up, my God!” (Steinbeck, 317).
Marx & Engels: Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels were the writers of “Manifesto of the Communist Party” which scorned socialist and capitalists.
