They are those who believe a community college is not the best place to receive a higher education. The belief is that community colleges cannot provide the same level of education as most four year colleges. People who support this belief say that a two year college is too easy and would not make a student become competitive in the job market. At most, four year colleges the first two years are design for the student to take prerequisites that could be attain at a community college and help the student decide which direction or to career path to take. The community colleges offer undecided students, working students, older students, and transferring students the opportunity to save money with lower tuition; it offers a slower pace for older and working students. Community college offers the student the opportunity to have a better relationship with the professor than at a university or an institution of higher learning. The cost of credit hour at a community college is much less. The cost would probably be about one third of the cost at an institution of higher learning. This cost can be a major decision factor for students if they do not receive scholarship money or any other funds to help pay for courses, books, meals, and transportation. Community college expenses needs to be budgeted. Community college offers students the opportunity to obtain an associate degree if they are not ready for a four year degree. The associate degree offers the student the opportunity to seek employment after graduation and make the decision to go back to school and earn a bachelors or master’s degree later, if life does not
