Compare and Contrast Essay The unlimited possibilities that the future holds for us as well as for the present times are greatly different than the times that the Frank family experienced during hiding from the Nazis starting in 1942. Their restrictions in hiding included limited bathroom time, quiet hours, food shortage, couldn’t go outside or have any social interactions whatsoever and didn’t experience sunlight for two whole years. This did not relieve their hope but the truth was, at times it was hard for them to keep any hope. Although Anne Frank and Margot Frank are pretty close in age sisters, their lifestyle and personalities differ throughout their hiding experience. On the other hand, there were plenty of similarities that went …show more content…
I mean put yourself in their shoes, they weren’t even able to feel the sunlight, or play like children should. Instead they were stripped of their youth and forced to grow up in the hiding place. Anne outspokenly tried to gain awareness, “We're young, Margot and Peter and I! You grownups have had your chance! But look at us… If we begin thinking of all the horror in the world, we're lost! We're trying to hold on to some kind of ideals… when everything… ideals, hopes… everything, are being destroyed! It isn't our fault that the world is in such a mess! One of her traits that I like most about her is that she is optimistic. Anne writes in her diary, “In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can’t build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery, and death. I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder, which will destroy us too, I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too will end, and that peace and tranquility will return again.”(Anne Frank) Along with opposite personalities, they both had different positions in the family. Anne depends and clings to her father not to mention that she swore she only loved him. Margot is less dependent to a single parent yet always finds herself solving problems or found stuck between Anne and her mother. Finally, Anne and Margot have separate professions that each seek. At first Anne wanted to have a Hollywood career but then focused on becoming a serious
