As most know, Latin American territory was mostly conquered by Spaniards, whereas Brazil, the largest country in Latin America, was conquered by the Portuguese. Other than being conquered by the Portuguese, there were many other different aspects that made the country stand out from the rest. As a result, it could be seen that this affected the outcome of the country’s economic stability in many different ways. All countries in Latin America have experienced changes, but not in the same way as Brazil has because Brazil has some unique qualities. This includes slave labor, trade, and different crop cultivations. The Portuguese who invaded Brazil used its indigenous populations for labor and imported African slaves to expand their country in which African slaves became more central. What also contributed to the growth and development of Brazil were the different crops that helped them gain money while exporting goods. These include but are not limited to: sugar, coffee, gold, cattle, and rubber. Although they were not valuable good like silver, which was significant with global currency, these goods were enough to help Brazil. They did not need all the other crops that other countries were rich in like fruit, cotton, or cacao because Brazil is one of a kind. Not only because they were conquered by Portuguese, but because they showed different qualities that contributed to how they were coming up as a country. Although not many people were attracted to Brazil because of its prominent rural areas and lack of large cities, the country was still able to have many aspects that contributed to their ongoing growing economy.
