“The Diary of Anne Frank” written by Francis Goodrich and Albert Hackett is a riveting play about the true events of a teenage child, Anne Frank. One possible theme that can be deduced from the play is that one should be grateful for what they have. In act one scene four of the play, the reader sees Mr. Dussel complaining about the living conditions of the Franks hiding place: “Dussel: (to Mrs. Frank). Something must be done about that child, Mrs. Frank… Everynight she twists and turns… I spend half my night sushing her.
The film Anne Frank: The Whole Story and Life is Beautiful both depict the difficulty of a Jewish family during World War II. Anne Frank and Guido Orefice, the two main character in the independent stories, have comparable lives and customs before they are hunted by the Nazis. In Guido’s story, Guido works in and owns his bookstore, in Anne’s story her father owns and manages his company. This reveals that Anne and Guido are rather affluent due to their family’s prosperous enterprise. Another correspondence between Anne and Guido is that neither are exceptionally faithful.
I am a person who usually doesn’t like to read the original book of movies, but when it comes to Anne Frank’s diary the book is definitely better. My main reason why I like the book better is the full detail. My second reason is because it is a Primary source of what was happening. The last reason is because the movie doesn’t follow the order of the diary. I hope you understand my reasoning and enjoy this essay.
Have you ever been in a situation where you have to choose hope or fear? I believe hope is stronger than fear. Some great sources are are Diary of Anne Frank play which is about a girl who had to hide from the Nazis during WWII, and the poem Homesick which is about someone living the ghettos and does not have much to eat. What is stronger, hope or fear? The Diary of Anne Frank is a great source.

4th grade was the first time I read “The Diary of a Young Girl.” Even as a ten-year-old without much exposure to world history, and U.S. history beyond its most basic level, I empathized with a young girl not much older than I who, as a result of persecution, had to go into hiding or would otherwise face death. In eighth grade, I read the play adaptation of this diary in my English class, and we were told to write an essay on this question: “If you were in the place of those in hiding, what would you miss most?” For some reason, this question has stuck with me throughout the years. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a question most people want to avoid.
