The Native and White Americans have had an issue over territory for many years. Native Americans thought that the land that they had was for everyone to shared and live together, did not have one owner but had a leader of the tribe. The White Americans disagreed with this and wanted to do something about it; they thought they could secretly take away land and change the Native American culture by assimilating the Native Americans. Most White Americans had so much hatred when it came to the Native Americans, probably because of what they had and what was given to them; the White Americans thought they were dumb. They didn’t think that the Native American culture fit in with United States, they seek to stop their cultural traits. The United States government even tried to hide the Indians by taking away most of their land and putting some tribes together, hidden. In 1870 and 1880, the United State government wanted to “civilize” the Native Americans and their upcoming generations, by assimilating them into the American culture. Assimilating is basically to end the Native Americans view and tribal values, taking away everything they believe them to transfer them into what they Whites Americans thought was the right culture. For example, in both cultures the women are most always doing the domestic chores, like cooking, cleaning, taking care of the children.
