Americans Versus Americans Terrorism is hardly ever looked at lightly. When most Americans think of terrorist the first thing that comes to mind is the September 11 attacks. What many fail to recognize are the numerous incidents in which the terrorist attacks were committed by individuals who were United States citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Homegrown terrorism can be motivated by numerous reasons ; Economic issues,such as losing a job or blocked mobility,religious convictions,racial prejudice,and supremacist goals,political standpoints and even the deathof a close family member. Today this issue is at its peak and growing rapidly and it does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. From September 11 2001 to January 2014 there were 74 known terrorist acts committed by Americans,or lawful U.S. Residents with 70% being carried out after after April 2009.The Christopher Dorner shootings,the D.C. One main issue is the media,terrorist are already looking to put fear in people when they make threats or even commit the act itself and the media makes it no better by traumatizing the audience by exaggerating the threats or showing non stop footage of the incidents. There is no doubt that terrorism must be reported. However, the way the events are framed and the extent to which it is covered is also important (Lewis 2005).The media should give their audience a chance to develop their own opinions about the issue and make sure they are being as unbiased and factual as possible.
