Military Tactics of World War I and World War II The death of Franz Ferdinand shook the world and resulted in what would be called many names. The War to End All Wars, the Great War, and World War I. But the sad fact is that there were nearly 30 million casualties in the war and although they called the war to end all wars it surely was not. Soon later another war broke out, this time more catastrophic and resulted in more casualties. These two wars were undoubtedly the most destructive battles in the history of the world. So many different countries and superpowers were involved in the war which is one of the reasons as to why it was so catastrophic. However there are other factors in play that resulted in a huge war. The advancement of technologies between the time period of 1900’s to 1950 was tremendous. Means of killing people completely changed, and with these advances in technology the tactics of war also advanced. Although World War I and World War II started for different reasons, similar weapons and technologies were used. The implementation of these tools in battle differed as a part of the varying military strategies. Majority of the battles fought in both World Wars were not only in the sky. The most destructive battles were on the ground, and because of this there are many differences and similarities that can be made with the tactics in World War I and II. There is a tactic used in World War I that would be used in many wars to come, and that tactic is Trench Warfare.
