Comparison Essay
In this essay I will be telling you about some of the biggest wars in American history. Those two wars are the Revolutionary War and the Civil war. They have some similarities, but they also have some differences. They were fought for two completely different reasons. The Civil War was fought just under 100 years later. The Revolutionary war was fought from April 19, 1775 to September 3, 1783. The Civil war was from April 12, 1861 to May 13, 1865. It was a war between the original 13 colonies and Great Britain. George Washington was leading the army at the time also. The Revolutionary War was sparked by the Quartering Act, where the colonists had to provide food and shelter for the British Soldiers. Another one of the main reasons for the war was that the colonists didn’t like the British taxations. The colonists also didn’t like all the British soldiers standing around and guarding them. They felt like they were being treated like babies. Some events that led up to the Revolutionary War were: The Stamp Act, Tea Act, Taxation without Representation, Declaration of Independence, Constitution of the United States, Sugar Act, Boston Massacre, Tea Act, and the Boston Tea Party.
