The new government formed into two political parties with two very different opinions of how the new country should be run, (Shultz, n.d.). Although they had come together in the past, both felt they were the superior of the two and that their ideals would lead the new nation successfully in the future. The two political parties were identified as the Democratic-Republicans and the Federalists. The Democratic-Republicans were followers of Andrew Jackson, they often called themselves the Jacksonians or the Republicans, (Shultz, n.d.).
