The Korean War was a proxy war fought between the United States and the USSR, for the purpose of gaining power and political influence in other parts of the world. Since the end of WWII, the USSR and the United States became very hostile against one another, creating what came to be called “The Cold War“ coined by Bernard Baruch in 1947 from the lack of there ever being direct battles against one another. From the result of the bitter and cold rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union came a large chain of indirect battling over political influence in developing or war-torn countries. The North and South War On April 12, 1861 the Civil War began with the North and South . The North was known as the Union because southerners were pro linconist. The South was known as the Confederacy because some southern slave states declared their secession and formed the Confederate States of America. Both the North and South had advantages during the war.

Sandra Cisneros develops Rachel's voice in the story, “Eleven” by writing in the view of an eleven year old girl and illustrating how an eleven year old would act. During the article, “Eleven” there are many mistakes including run on sentences and sentence fragments that the author purposefully made to convey Rachel's eleven year old thoughts.
A.P.J. Abdul Kalam once said, “War is never a lasting solution for any problem” (“War Quotes”). War is a necessary means to evil but when you look at the damage it does, it sometimes feels like it wasn’t worth it. WWII was a very difficult war that helped set the stage and prepare for Vietnam. Wars are different but the treatment of soldiers is different based on the political attitudes during the time.
