The characters go through many hardships, but in the end they save their father and everyone comes home safely. The book is a more powerful representation of the story than the film. This is because the book focuses more on the small details. Also, the book has more scenes which allow the characters to develop more and allows us to understand the personality of our characters. Small details can completely change the mood of a story, for example in the movie the Happy Medium is an energetic man, while in the book, the Happy Medium is a tired woman. Another showing of more details in the book is when it says things like, “Meg turned slowly to face a mountain reaching so high into the sky that its peak was lost in a crown of puffy white clouds. From the trees at the base of the mountain came a sudden singing of birds.
