Another significant difference in the experience of women relates to their relationship with children. Only women were faced with the decision whether to stay with their children and face their demise, or to leave their young ones behind. The Jewish women that successfully made their way into the camp eventually had to make the choice between their own life and that of their children. This was a conflicting reversal of natural order as a moment of giving life turns into a moment of death, as a mother’s choice to live meant death for the newborn baby. This was a betrayal of their maternal nature.
Based on Night, during the Holocaust, the Nazis gradually reduced the Jews to little more than “things” which were a nuisance to them. To deprive one of human qualities, personality, and/or spirit is to dehumanize one. In which, there were way more than a handful of examples to support this statement. Examples where men were deprived of food (human qualities), forced to go against their religion (personality), and wretchedly beat (spirit). Jewish parents in Germany and the people in other countries put the kids in the Kindertranport and they put some of the kids in the orphanage or foster homes to save Jewish children during the Holocaust because of Hitler what he was doing to the Jewish people. When people in Britain learned about Kristallnacht, they __went to help the Germans from Hitler. The British Jewish Refugee Committee helped the kids in Germany from Hitler and many parents sent them away. This resulted in a big save. Jewish parents and children had to take a risk to send there kids away to orphanage or foster homes some didn't have homes.
Jews that lived during the Holocaust were robbed and deprived of their God given rights and humanity.. They slowly lost hope, faith, family, and the reason you keep living. Elie Wiesel realizes he has to let go of his family to survive when the doctor says, “In this place there is no such thing as father, brother, friend”(110). This is dehumanizing because people are born needing a family to depend on and once they lose something as simple as that, they fall into a pit of negative emotions. Thousands of people lost their family members during the holocaust and the Germans had absolutely so sympathy towards them.
