In the City of Chicago alone, 762 individuals died as a result of murder. This great tragedy can only be explained by one thing: a mass lack of character. People get angry so they go and kill the people them hate; however not all the world acts out in deeds of bad character. The two books To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper lee and The Chosen by Chaim Potok provide numerous outstanding examples of Christ like character. Although, in the world these people are not of the world but show great character that can only come from God. In the end, out of the two books, To Kill a Mockingbird and The Chosen, Atticus Finch, Miss Maudie, and David Malter stand as three characters who demonstrated astounding Christ like character
To begin, Atticus Finch demonstrated phenomenal Christ like character through out the book To Kill a Mockingbird. Throughout the book, although placed in many hard situations, he perseveres and never lets his character falter. The specific character trait of patience stands out from the many other Christ like attributes that he shows. For example, in To Kill a Mockingbird a man that hates Atticus for making a fool out of his court case, came out to him “spat in his face, and told him he’d get him if it took the rest of his life.” Never the …show more content…

All through the book, David Malter Pushed himself to the limit to benefit those he loved, especially the Jewish Community. Although he suffered two heart attacks, and his health fell into great disrepair, he persevered laying “down his life for his Friends.” (ESV). Certainly most would not push themselves so hard for those they love to the extend that Mr. Malter did. Never the less David continued through the pain to benefit his beloved people. Clearly David Malter’s Christ like character shone brightly as he demonstrated sacrificial love for those whom he cared
