The Gospels Matthew and John are similar when it comes to Jesus’ life on Earth, in the sense that main events happen in both Gospels, but they are also different in varying ways. An important event that occurred in both Gospels was the time span of Jesus’ ministry. When it comes to the Gospel of Matthew, he only illustrated that Jesus’ ministry lasted only for a single year. Whereas, the Gospel John prolongs his story over a span of three Passovers. For instance, there was only one visit Jesus made to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover in Matthew chapter two verse one, which states, “In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem” (Coogan, 1749). This was the only time that Matthew stated Jesus’ appearance in Jerusalem. …show more content…

Another main event that happened in both Gospels, Matthew and John, but is told in different perspectives is the story of the Last Supper. The Last Supper was the time when Jesus ate His last meal with the Apostles before His
