According to the Grimm Brothers, not everything ends in “Happily Ever After” ‘s. As most may know, Disney is notorious for their pleasant, perfect endings, but the Grimm Brothers created a thrilling, twisted end to your favorite tales. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm collected stories that were passed orally and published them for everyone to enjoy. Over the years their stories have been changed and adapted in many different ways and they have been around ever since. The brother’s background, inspiration, and the adaptations of the tales are all components that created the outcome of the famous, unforgettable fairy tales. With a solid, educational background, the brothers were well accomplished before their famous fables were written. Jacob Ludwig Carl Grimm was born in Hanau, Hesse, Germany in 1785 followed by Wilhelm Carl Grimm the following year. They then proceeded to do research in their national library in Paris. When Jacob’s research was terminated, he returned and got a new job. He became a clerk in a Hessian War Office that was later overthrown by Napoleon during the French Revolution. Jacob still held the job, but it was now the French War Office. Soon later he found a better job at the royal library. Jerome and his queen were not very keen on reading and the only other people that were able to access the extensive amount of books was the librarian and the assistants, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. This allowed the brothers to have great resources for their research. Not long after, Wilhelm developed a serious heart disease that forced him to quit working and move away to get special, tortuous, treatments.
