Lord of the Flies and Lost are both stories surrounding a horrific plane crash that leaves passengers alive who have to survive. These stories share many similarities such as death along with others like character names. Many of the characters that die within the story, questions are asked surrounding, was it Murder? Who is guilty? Was it an accident? who is innocent? Murder is the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law, this is first degree murder. Second degree murder is murder by intent but without deliberation or premeditation. These deaths are very controversial due to if they would be considered murder or not. One murder that is questioned is Simon's death. Simon was a character from Lord of the Flies who was killed by the rest of the group on a dark, stormy night due to the fact that he had discovered the truth about the beast. As Simon was coming back from the mountain to tell the boys the news about the beast, they do not recognize him. Because it is dark and stormy they assume he's the beast. Edward Mars was a character from the popular tv show “Lost”. He of course was a Marshal for the United States. After the horrific plane crash he suffered severe injuries including being impaled by a piece of medal. Jack, another character from the show attempted to keep him alive but failed later when Sawyer shot him trying to end his suffering but missed his heart, causing more pain leading to his death. I feel like this is second degree murder because Sawyer shot him with intent of ending his suffering but without deliberation, which is what second degree murder is.
