In the books The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, and Because of Winn-Dixie both by the same author, Kate DiCamillo, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane goes thru a Journey of encountering with many strangers that has turned into loved ones in an instant. While finding loved ones, he also loses them. While the novel Because of Winn-Dixie takes place in Naomi Florida, Many things are still unchanged and quite similar to Edward’s story. We are going to look at similarities of these two books.
One really wide spread similarity in this book is the encountering of people that turn into more than friends. Edward meets a lot of people and grows very fond to them, and he basically forgets about Abilene at that point. I was surprised at “(page 143)” when Sarah Ruth died from sickness, Edward felt sad and once again alone. But he still had Bryce with him. Something that I found fascinating was that Edward lacked love for Abilene, Although Edward is a doll and you might think, “Edward must find lots of love for Abilene and be grateful for his loving family.” Well Edward was more grateful to his luxurious fashion instead of the love of Abilene. When Edward got thrown off of the cruise ship. He only found hope of getting home and getting back to his rich life, while not even thinking about Abilene. When he ended up encountering many people, while he lost someone, he learned more about what love is and how love can make you feel when put into deep emotions. While Opal, although she doesn’t know her mom at all. She still feels really deep emotions about her mom. At one point in the late beginning, she asks her dad 10 things he knew and loved about her mom, that leads Opal to know many new things about her
