He’s shows superb intelligence when fighting the cyclopes in “Book 9.” That’s a quality of superhuman intelligence that Odysseus possessed all throughout his entire journey. Another epic hero quality that helped Odysseus was help from Greek gods and goddesses. In part two of Homer’s Odyssey, Athena helped out Odysseus when he got back to his home land.

This essay comes from the odyssey written in the 7th century BC by Homer. Before he was lost at sea and missing for 10 years he was a war hero, he is the one who won the trojan war for the greeks with his genius idea of the trojan horse where they made a hollow horse that they stuffed warriors into and they gave it to the trojans as peace gift but after they celebrated and got drunk and fell asleep the warriors came out and opened the gates to troy and they killed all of the trojans and won the war.
Ernest Cline, author of Ready Player One, and Homer, author of The Odyssey, both come from different backgrounds but both share a common storyline within their writings: the pattern of “the hero’s journey”. Both Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One and Homer’s The Odyssey tell the story of two men escaping their homelands to undergo life-threatening adventures. However, the characters, Wade Watts and Odysseus, differ personally. Although Odysseus from The Odyssey, Homer’s epic, and Wade Watts from Ready Player One, Ernest Cline’s dystopian novel, both leave their childhood homes to undergo life-threatening quests, Odysseus shows little personal growth throughout the story, remaining as an arrogant, self-centered man, while Wade Watts progressively develops as a character, as he transforms from “a painfully shy, awkward kid” to the winner of James Halliday’s sought after Easter Egg.
A hero is someone who is revered for his or her exceptional achievements and bravery. Anyone who puts themselves before others not for recognition or an award, but because it is the right thing to do, is a true hero. In "The Odyssey," written by Homer is an epic poem about a man named Odysseus and his crewmates competing against the power of the gods to return to their homeland, Ithaca. Throughout his journey, he loses almost all of his men, but Odysseus finally arrives home, concluding his prolonged twenty-year voyage. Odysseus must battle the suitors that have taken his wife Penelope, and may soon kill his son Telemachus.
This moment is the final scene in The Odyssey. The simple hug between Odysseus and Penelope symbolizes the resolution of Odysseus’s journey and Penelope’s struggle with the suitors. This embrace changes Odysseus. It put him back at ease. All his tasks are completed, the gods are content with him, and he is with his family.
In Homer’s The Odyssey Odysseus goes on a journey to get back home from war. Along the way he goes through monsters, challenges, and obstacles that he has to face to make it back to reach his goal in the end. He has difficulties that change him as a person and how he reacts to events and points. This relates to me because even though both of our lives are different we have similarities.
The actions of Aeneas and Odysseus throughout their journeys exhibit the vastly different heroic values that each of them hold and how it represents their respective empire. Aeneas displays immense leadership characteristics, as his primary concern is always in the best interest of his people. Being the duty-bound leader that he is, he is one that will choose to forgo his personal desires and act upon his civil duties to his people. Aeneas’ leave-taking of Dido is an excellent representation of Aeneas living by his commitments, rather than his emotions. While Odysseus was on Calypso’s island living with another woman, Penelope was at home trying to fight off suitors and being loyal to her husband who was supposed to be making his way home. Penelope is clever much like Odysseus is with the Cyclops. It had been twenty years since Odysseus had left and the citizens of Ithaca wanted a new king. The suitors were trying to marry Penelope and take over the kingdom because it presumed that Odysseus had died. She said that she would choose a new king when she finished her tapestry that she had been crafting for a while.
In Homer’s Poem, The Odyssey, Penelope is the exceptionally patient and clever spouse of the infamous hero, Odysseus, and the mother of Telemachus. One poignant factor of Penelope’s character is her patience and devotion which is displayed throughout the poem. With her husband absent for a great majority of her life for the later of twenty years and his location unknown, Penelope stays, patiently awaiting Odysseus’ return, all whilst preserving their estate and raising her son by herself. Throughout this time, she had many persistent suitors in pursuit of her, abusing her husband’s absence.
