Our ruling is that County Paris is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. In the book Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet were lovers of two houses that had a fued. The two married behind their families backs. Many people think the deaths were from many people but forget about one person. Paris is the cause of the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because, he got into Capulets head, the fact he was going to marry Juliet, and the marriage cause Juliet to drink the potion. Paris opened up Capulets eyes about asking to marry Juliet. Capulet knew his daughter was getting older but Paris really made him think when he asked for Juliet's hand in marriage. At first he gave a good idea but then quickly changed his mind. “Of honorable …show more content…
After the death of Tybalt and the banishment of Romeo Capulet changed his decision. Everything happened very fast and Capulet decides to make Juliet marry Paris. “Unworthy as she is, that we have wrought so worthy a gentleman to be her bride?” (Capulet) “Not Proud you have, But thankful that you have. Proud can I never be of what I hate, but thankful even for hate is meant love.”(Shakespeare III.v 144-148) This shows that Juliet doesn’t want to marry Paris and this decision might not end badly. Her saying what she said was a nice way of saying absolutely not. “O God, O Nurse, how shall this be prevented? My husband is on earth, my faith in heaven. Juliet tried fighting Capulet about calling off the marriage with Paris but that ended badly by her getting smacked and screamed at. Then Juliet took matters into her own hands. “O bid me leap, rather than marry Paris from off the battlements of my tower, or walk in thievish ways or bid me lurk where serpents are. Chain me with roaming bears or hide nighty in a charnel-house.” (Shakespeare VI.i.79-83) Juliet is considering death rather than marrying Paris. This is showing that Paris is like a very deadly drug to Juliet. “Come bitter conduct, come unsavory guide, Thou desperate pilot now at once run on The dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark. Here’s to my love![He drinks] O true apothecary, Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die.” (V.iii.116-120) Romeo kills himself because Juliet fakes her death so she didn’t have to marry Paris. Then shortly after Juliet awakes she kills herself because Romeo was dead. If Paris wouldn’t have gotten in the way they would both be alive and living
