Simon and Rue are favorite characters of many who have read the Lord of the Flies and seen "The Hunger Games. " The various similarities found between the two play a role in this. The biggest similarity they share is their kindness. Simon shows the littluns kindness when no one does. Rue shows Katniss kindness even though they are fighting for their lives.
The Hunger Games, Star Wars, and Ender’s Game all have closely similar and widely different hero's journeys. Some parts where there are similarities and differences are in the Call to adventure, the Refusal, and the Mentor helper. These select few have vast amounts that compare and contrast. Some have comparing and contrasting and some have only similarities of differences. First of all, In the call to adventure there aren't many similarities but they do all contrast each other.

These similarities are important because they show that although the two books have very different environments, the main characters are manipulated by adults. One difference between the two books is that in Ender’s Gamer’s the kids are there to fight the buggers and save Earth, but in the Hunger Games, they are there only for the entertainment of the viewers who are watching the games live for their amusement. In Ender’s Game, Ender has an entire army when fighting on ships, and has a lot of high tech devices made for aerial combat. However, in The Hunger Games, Katniss can only get small weapons from bags that she finds and only has herself for protection. Unit 3 was a fun unit that introduced us to heroes. We learned who a hero is, his significance, and what makes up a “Hero’s Journey”. We became acquainted with Joseph Campbell, learned his interpretations of the hero myth, and were given an overview of his work The Hero with a Thousand Faces. In addition, we read excerpts from The Story of the Grail, Quest of the Holy Grail, and the short story “Chivalry”. In chapter 15, Campbell makes the claim that every hero myth follows the same pattern.
Often in literature, comparing stories will lead to revelations about human nature. Lord of the Flies and The Hunger Games both share a motif of being trapped and take human nature to another level. Lord of the Flies and The Hunger Games prove that working together and looking out for each other will give you a greater shot at victory. One very significant similarity is that in both books the characters are trapped on an island and fighting for their safety and survival. In Lord of the Flies, school boys, Ralph, Roger, Simeon, Piggy, Jack and along with other kids are trapped on an island and have to fight for survival, but, after a while of being on the island the civilization starts to die and so do the boys from violence and lack of communication.

What differences and similarities occur between a story of a society that extremely same and everything is controlled by government, and a society that inequality, differences rise and government only controls the outcome? The Giver and Hunger Games are popular novels that are first book of their series. While Hunger Games is a novel based on a society that problems occur from inequality and differences, focuses on the survival and which the main character Katniss stands out as a leader, and The Giver by Lois Lowry is a novel based on a society that problems occur from being too perfect and same, focuses on the importance of memory and past and which the main character Jonas stands out as a rebel for himself and very few people; both texts share similarities such as being dystopian novels which symbols used and one teenager stands out from a society and rebels. On the one hand, Hunger Games and The Giver contrast in many ways. Comparing the societies of these novels based on; while Hunger Games has a story of a society which has inequalities and differences, The Giver has a society that is too perfect, emotionless and same.
The Trojan War was a realistic battle in a realistic place, while the hunger games was a forced battle in a computerized arena. Odysseus had to face creatures and circumstances from the power of the gods/goddesses and sorcerers/sorceresses. Katniss was constantly bombarded with other competitors, and creatures made up and controlled by the game makers. The Hunger Games is characterized in the action/adventure genre.
Both of these characters are different because Katniss really likes the attention, which is portrayed at the capital, as she stands out among her peer tributes and Tris likes to be socially accepted as she enters into the Divergent faction. These characters were able to choose their destiny based on their personality. The theme explored in the “Hunger Games” was violence, corruption, and the defiant authority. Katniss wasn’t able to choose what district she wanted to be in because she lived in the district that she was born in.

The Hero’s Journey consists of four main parts, with more ideas under each part. These four parts are Departure, Testing, Fulfillment, and Return. Each part is a key aspect of the Hero’s Journey. In The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen goes through this journey.
