The October Revolution and the Freedom of Animal Farm

The novel, Animal Farm, has many connections to the Russian culture and how they became the country they are today. One example of one of Russia’s experience that is connected to the novel would be the Russian Revolution. The Russian Revolution was one of the game changing events that broke the working class of Russia out of the controlling grasp of the ruling class. Driven by the ideals of Karl Marx, the working class finally overthrow there oppressors just like how the animals were driven by the ideals of Old Major, and overthrew the farmers. During the October Revolution Vladimir Lenin, the Bolshevik party, and the working class of Russia overthrew the provisional government, storming the winter palace on the 25th to the 26th of October. The Bolsheviks were a revolutionary party, that were committed to the ideas of Karl Marx, believing that the working classes would liberate themselves from the economic and political control of the ruling class. The Bolsheviks gave the working class a slogan, “peace, bread, and land,” this phrase summarized the whole Bolshevik goals. After the Bolsheviks took the winter palace they appointed themselves as the new leaders of various government ministries and took control of the country side. This event shaped Russia in a whole new fundamental way giving the working class a new sense of hope, but that hope soon turns into misery in the long
