Everyone has faced adversity at some point in their lives, some more than others. The determining factor is how people deal with it and how they overcome adversity. The first text being compared is “An Uncertain Journey on a Jagged Road”. This text is about Forrest's retelling of the challenges he has faced in his upbringing and the journey of how he bettered himself. The second text being compared is The Outside Circle. This text is about an Indigenous man named Pete who is surrounded by drug abuse, poverty, and gang violence. The story takes him through years of intergenerational trauma and allows him to make a change in his life.
