To conclude, The Skating Party by Merna Summers and “The Love Song” by J. Alfred Prufrock share similar uses of personification. Although they have various conflicts, but their differences demonstrate the same manner of regret and they result in the same theme. To begin, these texts use personification in similar ways to emphasize the need for love. In The Skating Party, Nathan notice his love toward Delia, but due to her marriage with Dobson Sykes, Nathan would not confess to Delia. Nathan regrets his decision as he manipulates himself that Eunice is whom he loves. Once he realises his true feelings toward Delia, he says “I would expect love to call out love” (Summers 5).
