Comparing The Three Ghosts In Charles Dickens 'A Christmas Story'

In the novel A Christmas Story, written by Charles Dickens, and in the film directed by David Jones, Scrooge gets visited by three phantoms, each representing a different time in his life. The ghosts come to Ebenezer for the same reason they are who they are. In both the movie and the novel, each of the the three ghosts embodied the same way of life, good and bad. One of them represents the past Christmas of Scrooge, his present Christmas, and his Christmas to come.

The first ghost that visited Scrooge was the Ghost of Christmas Past. This Christmas of Scrooge’s is one that weighs both sides of the scale equally. It was both good and bad. The ghost uncovered the memories that Scrooge had experienced in his past, the ones he chose to hold
