Technology has swarm the business environment worldwide. Businesses today use technology for numerous things such as competitive strategy, productivity, marketing, telecommuting, customer services etc. Innovations in the technology area has improved the way businesses were done compared to twelve decades ago. Operations at companies has become less stressful and more productive because of the vast improvements of technology over the years. Smartphones also played a significant role at CPS Energy. Partnered with the Magellan Program, employees were able to use their smartphones on site to take photos of damage equipment or infrastructure to send to headquarters or the office. Then an immediate response with instructions to fix the problem at hand would be sent via voice, SMS text, email etc. to the person on site. At CPS, management couldn’t have foreseen the importance these devices would offer to the company. Christopher Barron, CPS Energy’s vice president and chief officer said, “Technology brings little to the table other than e-mail, and it cost a lot.” I think without first-hand understanding and no experience, it is relatively easy for the senior executives to rebate the benefits as it is a whole new area to the company, and amplify the risks or threats as they have fears about how much it will cost them, if it will be placed to use by employees and the safety of the device. An alternative proposition which can be used by CPS to improve the reception of these initiatives can be to bring into play small, low risk and low priced trial projects to demonstrate and reveal the technology's value and worth to the organization. Given this proposition, the senior executives would be more open to such change as they gain knowledge about the product
