A lot of times a big hit song usually starts off as a poem and vice versa. When we think of poetry, we think of verses and stanzas. These texts can either be separated or together to form a poem. The same goes for music as well, many songs have separate segments known as the verses and the chorus, and other songs combine those into one section. The narrator echoes on each line what he wants to become for this person that they desire. The tone of the poem is upbeat and positive and is categorized as a love poem. The narrator uses metaphors claiming they want to be like various inanimate objects in order to signify their feelings for the person they are in love with. “I wanna be your vacuum cleaner / breathing in your dust’’(Clarke 1-2) The poem has a sexual tone as well with

Ford Cortina / I will never rust”(Clarke 3-4) The mentioning of the Ford Cortina helps to date the poem. The Cortina is a classic seventies car. It also gives the poem a location as the Cortina is a car found in Britain. This line assures that they don't see their feelings fade. “If you like your coffee hot / let me be your coffee pot / you call the shots i wanna be yours’’(Clarke 5-8) The imagery here creates the sense of intimacy of being together as one.The line “you call the shots’’ is the narrator's way of counterbalancing the idea that they might be controlling, which
