At first it is important to say that the novel is more than just a story of two workers, it also deals a lot with friendship, loneliness, big dreams and living as a minority. So the story tells something about the society at this time and how people are prejudiced against f.e. black people. Moreover it fascinated me how these two completely different characters, Lennie and George, stay together and how they support each other in a world full of people who are alone and have no perspective for their future. You are always included in the story in a way, because you feel and suffer with the persons, so you are riveted by the book and you just want to know if their big dream becomes real or if a mistake will destroy their hopes.
