Comparison of Modern Family and Finding Nemo Jr. 1. The play that I attended for this comparison essay is Finding Nemo Jr.. Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez adapted the playwright, however, the play I attended was produced by the University of Utah Tanner Dance and Elevate Theater Company and was performed at The Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center. 5. What is the difference between a'smart' and a'smart'? Finding Nemo Jr has more digestible language and utilizes songs as opposed to Modern Family’s more adult use of language. The audience plays a big part in the language used in these shows. Finding Nemo Jr. uses language that is not too difficult to understand, while also keeping it appropriate for children. In addition, they use music to express the emotion of the scene. I think it was effective in my ability to understand the play because it showcased the setting in different scenes in ways the props didn’t, as there were not many props used at all. Similarly, Modern Family uses language to make more subtle jokes, which often go over the viewers head. I do understand most of it, but I find myself having to search up some words. 6. Modern Family also follows this purpose and showcases the complicated relationship between parents, siblings, and children. Modern Family accurately portrays the dynamics between groups of siblings, adult relationships, and growing up. Small misunderstandings and fights resolve themselves as the family learns to accept and love each other’s quirks. Finding Nemo Jr. has another specific and important purpose, to show that those with disabilities are not limited in life and deserve to be accepted. 7. What is the difference between a'smart' and a'smart'? I consider both Modern Family and Finding Nemo Jr. enjoyable for different reasons. There is nothing like live theater, as you can feel the energy of the characters and the audience together. Although I am just a spectator, the live aspect makes me feel like a part of the performance. It was fun to laugh along with the crowd and provide a standing ovation to those around me at the end of the show. I don’t often watch live plays, which is why I think I enjoyed this one so
