The book “Dateline Troy” by Paul Fleischman turns the Trojan War into an occasion for social studies, with the result that his audience may have to sacrifice some of the pleasures of reading in exchange for a fresh approach to history or current events. In Greek mythology, Helen of Troy also known as Helen of Sparta, or simply Helen, was said to have been the most beautiful woman in the world, she was also married to King Menelaus of Sparta. On the tenth day when the Troy visited Sparta to make peace, Helen runs away secretly with Prince Paris of Troy, resulting in the Trojan War. Legend has is that Helen was under Aphrodite spell to fall in love with Prince Paris of Troy which resulted in having the Trojan War.
It recounts the story of war heroes and the beginning of the war. Through this myth, we learned that the Trojan War began because of a disagreement between the goddesses; Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite. Zeus sent the goddesses to Paris, where
They reached many places, such as; Sicily, Italy, Egypt, and Mesopotamia. The Trojan War also originated because of the economic rivalry, between the Mycenaeans and Troy, over the control of Dardanelles. Both of these factors help the economy during this time flourish. At this time, city-states are growing and there was always a warrior king who ruled many of these villages. This was a new way of ruling for Greece, making this a big political factor in the development of Greece.
Troy is precise in its portrayal of the setting and the intensity of the Trojan war. Nevertheless, the reason to why the war occurred has many believable theories. The story was written by a very famous Greek writer and poet, Homer, the author of the well-known Iliad and Odyssey. The source of the Movie Troy came from the Iliad, an epic poem written by Homer around 800 B.C., despite that the actual war occurred 400 years before.
Even though the Trojan War sets itself up as a very controversial topic to many people, there is one positive aspect to this topic. The Trojan War contributed specific evidence to our generation on how greeks fought or may have fought battles through the Illiad. One could classify homeric warfare used by the greeks with simple weaponry, specific tactics in practice and use of humanistic ideologies. First, an important topic of warfare to address is the types of simple weaponry used. The weaponry that caught my attention first was the use of shields.
Achilles, Agamemnon and Gilgamesh Both Achilles and Agamemnon were central figures who led the United Greek armed forces during the Greek Trojan war (Coray et al., 2016). Agamemnon was the commander-in-chief of the Archaean army while Achilles was Achilles was one of the Archaean army’s greatest and most respected warriors. Achilles mother was the immortal Nereid Thetis and his father was, Peleus, king of the Myrmidons and was mortal. Agamemnon the other hand was the son of the royal King Atreus and Queen Aerope of Mycenae. While both warriors have different characters, there is absolutely no doubt that they were great warriors who were very strong.

To see why Paris choose to steal the bride of king which the act of doing so caused one of the greatest wars in history we have to look back a few years. Troy is a movie that first debuted in 2004 that was based on the epic, The Iliad. There are many similarities that can be found between the Iliad and the movie Troy due to the fact the movie is based off The Iliad. Although, there are many differences that I found between these two. I am going to compare Troy and The Iliad to show how the Trojan War is portrayed in each of these. To begin, since Troy is formed from The Iliad, there are so many similarities between the two.

War is fought among groups of individuals who do not agree on something or prefer a specific idea, leading to rivalry, causing injuries, bloodshed, and an overall victory among one side or the other. The Trojan War was the setting of the work by Homer, The Iliad; though it did not begin until the final year of the war, the tenth year (Puchner 224). The war itself was not depicted as something that was negative, instead, for the characters it was a positive aspect, as it was a way for them to gain kleos, everlasting glory; they were willing to partake in war to possibly receive the gift they have always wished for. Where The Iliad seemed to celebrate war, it also went through the brutal deaths, slavery, sicknesses, and intense fighting mechanisms.
Power based negotiations can be a useful tactic in negotiations. Power based negotiations are an adversarial negotiations in which both parties try to exert their power over one another. This tactic is essentially a competitive interaction. Both parties are fighting over resources, and each view the negotiation as a zero-sum game. The parties are both willing to use their power to deceive and take advantage to pursue their personal goals.
