WCBS 880 and 1010 WINS are both radio stations owned by CBS radio. These radio stations are in a competition to gain more audiences. Both stations main purpose is to target a specific audience, and its primary product is to sell listeners to advertisers. After comparing both radio stations one found that WCBS 880 delivers the news in a direct way while 1010 WINS delivers the news in a dramatic way. WCBS 880 and 1010 WINS are on AM dials and have a news format. Listeners have the option to stream live on the web around the clock. The sound effects were very dramatic which made me distracted by losing focus on the news. It felt as if they were following a structure. When the news anchors were delivering the news, it was in a faster pace than WCBS 880. It felt as anchors were rushing between news and commercials. I felt like they wanted to balance the same amount of news and commercials. The 1010 WINS station target audiences in Metropolitan Areas. I believe so because of their advertisements and news information on those areas. They also had advertisements for adults and seniors. Advertisements on banks, Cellphone Companies, loans, the lottery, automobiles, tobacco, heath issuances, and home cares. The news anchors had relevant news, but rushing into commercials was such a distraction. The 1010 WINS had relevant news such as the terrorist attack in Paris, drug dealer that was 11years old, and the Penn Station shooting. There slogan “all news all the time you give us twenty-two minutes, we will give you the world”. Even the slogan can give you an idea of how the news will be delivered. When I heard the slogan, it sounded dramatic and if they are going to give you the world in twenty-two minute, it will be in a fast pace.
